Palm Springs Golf Course Review
Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert is an open for public play Ron Fream championship design featuring private club conditions and amenities in a spectacular desert setting. The course is meticulously groomed from tee to green, with plentiful flowers and landscaped shrubbery lining the tee areas, cart paths and green complexes.
On property are a targeted grass range, huge putting green and short game area - all with complimentary practice balls. The clubhouse is immense, and is wonderfully appointed with outstanding member only amenities, plus pro shop and restaurant/lounge that is open to the public with full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
Golfers will encounter a player friendly yet challenging layout in a lush environment, with abundant sand and water hazards. The manicured fairways provide sufficient landing zones, and the greens are large and mildly undulating. Often - sand traps, mounding, swales and collection areas near raised green complexes await mis-hit approaches, creating the need for a good short game. When water is the main hazard, the greens usually are less protected with openings in front or to either side.
Throughout the course, golfers are treated to spectacular vistas of the desert mountains, contrasted by the colorful palms and tropical plants that are abundant on property. The terrain is quite rolling, with sloping mounds and trees often defining the fairways. Five sets of tees provide players with options of playing to distances and slopes measuring 7084 yards/133 slope, 6702 yards/128 slope, 6230 yards/123 slope for men and 138 for women, 5792 from the senior tees with a 118 slope for men and 133 for women, and 5273 yards with a 125 slope from the forward sets.
Desert Falls is a spectacular layout set in a lush environment, surrounded by desert and mountains. Members enjoy outstanding benefits, and the golfing public is treated to private club conditions. The sprinkler heads on course provide measurements to the front, back and middle of the greens, and color coded flags indicate the day's pin placements. This is important information - as the huge putting surfaces can provide hole locations that can measure plus or minus 50 yards or more! Go for the flag!
