HEMET GOLF CLUB (909-926-4653)
Palm Springs Golf Course Review
Hemet Golf Club, located about 45 minutes from Palm Springs, is a beautiful 18-hole Schmidt-Curley championship design featuring a great variety in topography and shot selection. This Landmark Golf facility is situated in the cool Hemet foothills and with green fees including cart topping out at $65 prime time in 2005, this is one of the best values in the entire area. Golfers can expect wonderful conditioning, cooler climate and spectacular mountain views at every turn.
The front and back nines open up along a fairly level terrain, then climb up and down the mountain sides on the middle holes, providing significant elevation changes from tee to green. Holes four, five and six on the front and numbers 13, 17 and 18 on the back all play from elevated tees, with exceptional mountain backdrops framing the green complexes.
The well manicured fairways are rolling in nature, although golfers will usually find level lies and generous landing zones. Over 50 sand bunkers are located near the greens or along the fairways, and water comes into play on 6 holes. The large, undulating putting surfaces can be easily negotiated, as open fronts and mild greenside mounding allows for up and downs on slightly offline approaches.
Four sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6590 yards/120 slope, 6212 yards/116 slope, 5777 yards/110 slope for men and 129 for women, and 5260 yards with a 122 slope for women playing from the forward sets. Pro Shot GPS is standard on all carts, which also have pin placement sheets that indicate the day's hole locations. 100, 150 and 200 yard blocks are posted on the fairways (150 also on par fives).
On property are a grass range and practice green, plus a clubhouse with pro shop and restaurant/lounge serving breakfast and lunch menus seven days a week. This facility can host a full golf outing and banquets/special events for up to 150 people. We highly recommend a round at the Hemet Golf Club. The price is right, and the beautiful course conditioning and spectacular mountain scenery are worth the ride. Expect temperatures to be about 10 degrees cooler than those in Palm Springs.
